Abstract
A patient with a history of amblyopia and coloboma presented with decreased vision in both eyes over the past 2 years. Slit lamp exam was notable for pigmented lesions prolapsing through pupil and adhering to posterior cornea in both eyes. The patient sought surgical interventions to improve her vision. Given the significant decrease in vision in the left eye, en bloc excision was performed first, followed by the right eye several months later. At 6 months post-op from surgery on the left eye, the patient attained an uncorrected distance visual acuity of 20/150 with a pin hole improvement to 20/40 along with resolution of the iris cysts and corneal edema. At 1 month post-op from surgery on the right eye, the patient had an uncorrected distance visual acuity of 20/40 along with resolution of the iris cysts and corneal edema. The patient tolerated the procedure well, and this case report further adds to the body of literature that supports the use of en block excision with cryotherapy for the management of visually significant iris cysts.
