Myopic Traction Maculopathy

A 62-year-old Asian male with history of myopia presents with decreased vision x 6 months. Found the have myopic traction maculopathy. Patient managed successfully with observation. He has had gradual worsening of vision but has not affected his quality of life. Myopic traction maculopathy is slowly progressive, schisis-like thickening in staphylomatous myopes that is rarely complicated by macular hole and subfoveal RD. In addition to observation, other treatment options include PPV with or without ILM peel, and macular SB.
