Description
The patient presented with a nail gun injury, IOFB, cataract and retinal detachment. The cataract and the capsule were removed. The nail was found under a localized retinal detachment. A PVD was induced at the macula and stripped peripherally to free
the nail from under the retina. The IOFB was removed using a hand-to-hand technique to align the nail with the axis of the wound. FAX was performed and air was exchanged for 16% C3F8 gas. Intravitreal antibiotics were given. The patient retained 20/20
corrected visual acuity and retina remained attached.
