Grand Rounds
A patient who presents for refractive surgery evaluation. They were noted to have no ocular pathology and was deemed a good refractive surgical candidate. Patient underwent uncomplicated bilateral laser in situ keratomileusis, however the patient admitted to frequent use of electronic cigarettes and common extremes of temperature. Patient was subjectively unhappy with his vision post operatively despite minimal residual refractive error of spherical equivalent -0.5D or less for 5 months. Further workup uncovered higher order aberration, and underwent lift and retreat with topography guided ablation which lead to subjective improvement and satisfactory visual outcome.
