Abstract
A 61-year-old male referred after complicated cataract extraction surgery (phacoemulsification). On exam he was found to have a large piece of retained nuclear fragment in the inferior vitreous. He underwent PPV along with lens exchange with anterior chamber IOL placement. He subsequently developed inferior retinal detachment, which was repaired by repeat PPV with cryo/EL/C3F8/SBP. Afterwards, patient had an uncomplicated clinical course and his best-corrected final visual acuity 10 years after initial cataract surgery was 20/40.
