Corneal Haze After KAMRA Corneal Inlay Implantation

A patient presented with visual changes after prior LASIK, KAMRA inlay placement, cataract surgery, and KAMRA explantation. Examination showed central circular corneal scarring corresponding to the prior inlay site. KAMRA-associated haze may result from myofibroblast-mediated fibroconnective scar formation and can persist even after explantation. The patient was treated with ocular surface optimization, topical losartan with improvement in scar density, and later excimer laser PTK, resulting in symptomatic improvement and postoperative BCVA of 20/20-1. Although KAMRA inlays are removable, corneal fibrosis and visual symptoms may persist after explantation. Management may require multimodal treatment, including topical therapy and excimer laser treatment in selected cases.
