Drusen-Associated with Membranous Nephropathy
A patient presented to the Bascom Palmer emergency department and was found to have bilateral drusenoid macular changes. Follow-up imaging revealed subretinal fluid in the right eye. The patient started dialysis for treatment of nephrotic syndrome associated with membranous nephropathy. After 4 – 6 months of follow-up with no intraocular or topical interventions, the subretinal fluid resolved and the drusenoid changes improved notably in both eyes. This is one of the few reports cases of membranous nephropathy associated with retinal changes, though other glomerulonephropathies have been reported to more commonly be associated with retinal changes.
