Fusarium Keratitis
A patient with no pertinent ocular history presented with 3 months of pain, redness, and blurred vision in the right eye. Visual acuity was HM and slit lamp exam was remarkable for a central infiltrate with feathery irregular margins, significant injection, and a small hypopyon. The patient continued to worsen despite topical antibiotics and antifungals and was taken for a corneal biopsy with intrastromal antifungals and a conjunctival flap. Corneal biopsy showed Fusarium spp. The patient gradually improved after surgery with resolution of the infiltrate and hypopyon and contraction of the conjunctival flap. At most recent follow up, the eye was white and quiet with VA pinhole 20/25 off all antifungals.
