Radius-Maumenee Syndrome
A 15-year-old male presented with elevated intraocular pressure of the left eye. Gonioscopy revealed blood in Schlemm’s canal. Fundoscopic examination and subsequent ophthalmic imaging confirmed a diagnosis of glaucoma in the left eye. Neuro-imaging was normal without signs of vascular anomaly. A diagnosis of Radius-Maumenee syndrome (Idiopathic Elevated Episcleral Venous Pressure) was made and the patient was treated with topical intraocular pressure-lowering drops unsuccessfully. The patient then underwent uncomplicated deep sclerectomy, viscocanalostomy, and Stage 1 Baerveldt implantation. Post-operative pressure was subsequently well controlled without drops.
