Description
This one-day scientific meeting assembles a broad array of research scientists and clinicians whose expertise and focus are principally directed to orbital oncology, traumatic optic nerve injury, and stem cell and biomedical innovations for immediate
clinical application. The core objective of the meeting was to move the orbital research community to a more multi- and interdisciplinary scientific mindset by removing barriers and creating a conducive environment to collaborative interactions among
investigators from different disciplines.
The presentations highlighted cutting edge molecular biology, genomic, and proteomic approaches to better understand the molecular underpinnings of these diseases and bring the state-of-the-art in advanced biomaterials and regenerative medicine technologies
for translating research findings into clinical reality - with the ultimate aim of achieving improved visual outcomes and quality of life for orbital diseases in which effective therapy remains elusive.
