Abstract
A patient presented to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute complaining of slowly progressive vision loss in both eyes occurring over several years. Examination revealed 20/25, 20/30 vision, bilateral hyperpigmented mottling in the posterior pole. Fundus autofluorescence showed a well-circumscribed area of dense hyper- and hypoautofluorescent spots in the macula. OCT showed discrete lesions of RPE thickening and disruption. OCT angiography further demonstrates the extent of RPE atrophy not readily seen on fundus photography. Patient was taking pentosan polyphosphate sodium for interstitial cystitis and was instructed to stop the medication.
