Abstract
A patient with recently diagnosed ciliary body melanoma was referred to the BPEI glaucoma service for cataract evaluation. Examination revealed CF vision, a dense white cataract, and ciliary body melanoma that had extended into the iris. The patient had
undergone I125 plaque brachytherapy 2 weeks prior to cataract referral, with significant progression of her cataract in the interim. Systemic imaging was negative for extraocular metastatic disease. Cataract extraction, synechialysis, and intraocular
lens insertion was performed. The patient’s vision has since continued to improve while her tumor shows ongoing regression.
