Grand Rounds
A patient referred to the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute with chronic uveitis after uncomplicated cataract surgery with multifocal lens implantation. She was found to have iris chaffing on UBM and a fixed, dilated pupil. She underwent intraocular lens exchange with implantation of a scleral fixated lens. However, the patient continued to experience debilitating glare and halos. Thus, she underwent successful pupilloplasty which was able to alleviate these symptoms. This case demonstrates the difficulty of lens stability in scleral sutured lens cases as the patient was left with a myopic surprise. She underwent laser vision correction with PRK for this refractive error.
