A 68-year-old female presented with blurry vision OD. Reported seeing black spots that became yellow with a halo and cloudy central vision. VA: 20/50 OD and 20/20 OS. DFE was significant for a small round defect in the fovea OD. Imaging work up: significant for OCT showing a full thickness macular hole. Diagnosed with full thickness macular hole. Initially observed, and was scheduled to return in 10 days, on return visit, OCT was stable. Five weeks later the hole started closing on OCT, patient was followed every 5-6 weeks. In February 2020 the hole was completely closed with persistent of a small foveolar contour defect. Patient missed scheduled follow up due to COVID-19 and presented 8 months later for evaluation. The hole stayed closed and the vision went from 20/50 OD in July 2019 to 20/20-1 in October 2020.
