Double Interlacing
Section outline
-
Surgical video demonstrating Mendonça's double interlacing technique for left sixth cranial nerve palsy. The lateral rectus is split longitudinally and disinserted from the sclera. The superior and inferior recti are split without disinsertion, preserving the anterior ciliary arteries. The upper and lower halves of the lateral rectus are interlaced through the split vertical recti and reattached at the original insertion. Post-operative results showing improved abduction, stable alignment, and no diplopia at one year.
