Abstract
A patient with no past ocular history presented to the emergency department complaining of floaters and decreased vision in the right eye. The patient was diagnosed with a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with multiple retinal breaks. The patient underwent combined pars plana vitrectomy/scleral buckling surgery with silicone oil placement. The patient subsequently underwent silicone oil removal about 3 months later. After silicone oil removal, the patient was noted to have a small amount of proliferative vitreoretinopathy with an inferior retinal detachment. Focal retinectomy along with silicone oil replacement was performed. Two months later, the patient experienced another retinal detachment. Cataract extraction with intraocular lens placement, pars plana vitrectomy, membrane peeling, and inferior retinectomy were performed. At the 3-month postoperative visit, the patient complained of persistent blurred and distorted vision. Fundus autofluorescence demonstrated the presence of retinal vessel printings consistent with retinal displacement.
