Abstract
A patient with a past ocular history of bilateral intermediate non-exudative age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma suspect, and bilateral cataracts presented with gradually decreasing vision in 2023. BCVA 20/25 OD and 20/20 OS. DFE revealed no hemorrhage or fluid in either eye. The patient had been followed with stable examinations and serial OCT imaging every six months without evidence of fluid. 39 months later, at the June 2026 follow-up, OCT of the right eye showed new subretinal fluid overlying a drusenoid PED. OCT angiography showed no evidence of MNV. The patient was diagnosed with exudative, non-neovascular AMD of the right eye. Given the absence of a demonstrable neovascular membrane, and stable vision, the patient elected observation with close interval follow-up rather than empiric anti-VEGF therapy. Over several months of follow-up, the patient has remained stable on conservative management.
