Section outline

  • An elderly male who presented in 2017 with an orbital mass, for which pathology showed fibrotic inflammation, had successful surgical resection. Nearly 8 years later, relentless bilateral growth of the lesion caused compressive optic neuropathy of both eyes. Repeat biopsy confirmed sclerosing orbital inflammation with minimal response to steroids. Given this challenging diagnosis and relentless disease course, the patient will begin radiotherapy and treatment with tocilizumab to slow disease progression.
